Let’s manifest your best year together—are you ready?
Here’s how we’re going to tackle procrastination, starting with six essential questions to help you break through resistance.
1. Is This Truly Something I Want?
Sometimes, we procrastinate because the goal we’re chasing isn’t really ours. It might be something society, family, or even a past version of ourselves thought we should pursue. Take a moment to check in with your heart: Do I genuinely desire this?
If the answer is no, it’s time to release that goal with love and make space for what truly lights you up. But if it’s a yes, let’s move to the next step.
2. Do I Have the Capacity Right Now?
Your procrastination might be a signal that you’re stretched too thin. Ask yourself: Do I have the bandwidth to take this on right now? If the answer is no, that’s okay. Postpone the start date, adjust the timeline, or take smaller steps. Remember, not now doesn’t mean not ever.
3. Is This the Right Time?
Timing matters. Sometimes, life’s demands make even the most exciting goals feel overwhelming. If now isn’t the right time, honor your intuition. Trust that when the time is right, you’ll feel ready to begin.
4. What Am I Afraid Of?
Fear is often at the root of procrastination. It can look like resistance, overthinking, or self-doubt. Ask yourself: What fear might be holding me back? Whether it’s fear of failure, judgment, or even success, recognizing your fear is the first step to overcoming it.
5. Am I Waiting for Perfect?
Perfectionism can paralyze progress. You might think there’s a “right” way to start or achieve your goal, but love, let me tell you: There is no perfect way. Start where you are, with what you have. Progress beats perfection every time.
6. Do I Have a Case of the Hows?
Overwhelm often shows up as a million “how” questions: How will I find the time? How will I make this work? Instead of trying to map out every step, focus on the next one or two actions you can take. Small steps lead to big results.
Putting It All Together
These six questions are your roadmap to navigating procrastination. They’re not about judgment or shame but about understanding and compassion. When you’re stuck, come back to them. They’ll guide you toward clarity and action.
Personally, these questions have been a game-changer for me. After having my baby, I struggled to return to my movement practice. It wasn’t until I released perfectionism and asked myself these six questions that I finally got back on track. My movement practice doesn’t look the same as it did before, but it feels just as meaningful.
Your Next Step
Think about a goal or dream you’ve been procrastinating on. Start by asking yourself these six questions. Write down your answers, and see what insights come up. Remember, love, progress happens one small step at a time.
Here’s to a year of growth, transformation, and dreams realized.
Until next week, take a deep breath in, hold onto the one thing resonating with you from this, and breathe out with intention. You’ve got this, love.
