Letting go is one of the most challenging things we face, whether it’s releasing a toxic relationship, an unfulfilling job, or a limiting belief. It can feel impossible to let go, even when you know it’s necessary.

But why is it so hard? And how can you trust the space that comes after?

Let’s explore why we hold on—and what happens when we finally let go.

We Fear the Unknown More Than the Familiar

Even when something no longer serves us, it’s familiar. We know how to navigate it, and that’s comforting.

The thought of stepping into the unknown, of having nothing to replace it, can feel terrifying.

Letting go means facing a period of nothingness—an in-between space where we have to trust that something better is coming.

But just like the trees shedding their leaves in fall, letting go creates room for new growth. It’s not about losing—it’s about making space for the next chapter.

Clinging to “One Thing” Makes Us Feel in Control

When life feels uncertain, many of us latch on to one thing we can control, even if it’s unhealthy.

This “One Thing Theory” keeps us from facing the bigger, scarier changes in life. Whether it’s a relationship, a job, or a belief, we hold onto it because it gives us a false sense of stability.

But holding on to something that’s not good for us prevents growth. We must learn to trust the process of releasing what’s no longer aligned.

Letting Go is an Act of Courage and Trust

Releasing the familiar requires bravery.

It’s normal to feel scared, but letting go opens the door to something greater. In my own experience, it wasn’t until I let go of a relationship that I stepped into a season of transformation.

That space of nothingness allowed me to create the most meaningful relationship of my life.

When we let go, we signal to the universe that we are ready to receive something better.

Letting go can feel like standing in the middle of a storm, exposed and vulnerable. But just like nature teaches us, it’s a necessary step to create space for new beginnings.

Are you ready to let go of that “one thing” you’ve been holding onto?

Tune into today’s episode for a powerful letting go meditation and give yourself permission to release what no longer serves you.

About your host, Shirin Eskandani

Hi, love! I’m Shirin.

Coach, speaker, writer, and life alchemist.

I teach you how to listen to your intuition again, tune out all the BS, and let your heart lead the way.

Because once you strengthen your inner GPS, decisions become easier, boundaries become clearer, and belly laughs become a daily thing.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME:

  • I’m a certified life coach (accredited through the International Coach Federation)

  • My husband and I met on Instagram and we live in Brooklyn, NY with our plant babies

  • I have a masters degree in Music and was a professional opera singer for twelve years.  I worked all over the world singing on stage at Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Opera (more on that later…).

  • I believe in the woo just as much as I do the work (internal and external).  No amount of crystals and affirmations will make up for a lack of a healthy mindset and aligned action.

  • I love all the Real Housewives franchises.  Don’t make me choose one… seriously, don’t.
