Change is the Journey with Leslie Tagorda | Courageous Conversations, ep199

change is the journey with leslie tagorda

I can't wait to share this week's Courageous Conversation with astrologer, Leslie Tagorda, with you.

First, it's an accomplishment that Leslie and I were able to make it through a podcast episode without giggling and laughing the entire way. But I am so glad we did because her story is such an incredible one.

Leslie was always meant to work with the stars but her journey to becoming an astrologer took lots of pivots and turns.

Her story reminds us that what we may think is a detour may actually be the path we're meant to take all along.

If you're someone who feels like you may be a little lost in life, today's Wholehearted Coaching podcast episode will provide lots of inspiration and hope.

Before we dive in…

Applications for the Wholehearted Life Coaching Certification are now Open!

Throughout this 6-month program, you will learn how to coach with care, skill, and ethics, all while weaving your own magic and medicine into your practice.

By the end of our time together you will become a heart-centered coach who can hold space and create transformation with the communities you hold most dear.

This is about bringing the soul back to coaching. This is about bringing your whole self (your medicine and magic) into this work.

If you've ever considered becoming a coach, I hope you will apply. Applications are open until June 16 or until we fill up! There are currently 10 spaces left.

I’ve been reflecting a lot lately. Mapping out my life and seeing how the heck I got here.

And to be honest with you, as I put the pieces together, I realize I could have never planned any of this out.

You see, ten years ago, I was totally lost.

I was in a career where I was overworked and undervalued. I was burnt out and miserable, knowing that I needed to make a big change.

But I had no idea what that change was.

I was on the brink of turning 30. Single. Unhappy with my job. And to put it mildly, quite broke.

I had this vision for myself that by 35 I would be in a loving relationship, doing fulfilling work and have an income that could comfortably support me.

And there I was single, broke and overwhelmed, thinking, "um how are you going to do this??"

Ah yes, the word how.

The word "how" is probably the biggest dream killer of all.

It's a word that instills doubt, fear and insecurity in us dreamers. It's a word that makes us settle and compromise on what we most want.

So there I was thinking to myself, “how are you going to do all this within in five years?”

Had I listened to that voice, I probably wouldn't be where I am now.

Because by the end of my 35th year, I was married to the partner of my dreams, coaching full time, and making a pretty decent income.

Looking back, I could have never known the how, because what I thought were detours was the actual journey.

The podcast I was kinda listening to, introduced me to my first coach who then inspired me to become a coach.

The guy who showed up on our first date in a unicorn hat who I thought was just a fling ended up becoming my husband.

The free workshops I was running with my friend that I thought were a way to find clients ended up becoming an invitation to appear on the Today Show (twice!) and formed the foundation of the work I do now on intuition and self-trust.

Love, you're never going to know your how until you actually get there.

All we can know is the next step or two but beyond that it's kind of out of our control.

So if you are deep in the overwhelm, wondering how you are going to make your dreams come true, I hope you use my story as a source of hope and inspiration.

Trust me, one day, you will look back at this time and finally be able to make sense of it all. And you'll realize you were always on the right path.

If you want to dive in deeper and get an extra dose of hope and inspiration, listen to this week’s podcast episode for the full interview with Leslie Tagorda.

Try out this week's journal prompts and see what comes up, love:

  • Think of something you have now that you once desired (ie. job, friends, partner, home etc...)

  • Now, working backwards, take 5 minutes to create a map of how you got this thing (this can be in bullet form, sentences, or you could get creative and actually create a map)

  • Reflecting on "the how" of how you got this thing.  What comes up for you? (ie. could you have ever imagined it would happen this way, what steps surprised you etc..)

  • Now think of something that you really desire now and are worried about how it's going to happen.  How does doing this exercise shift your perspective on it?

  • Would would 2029 You say to Present-Day You when it comes to taking the next steps towards this goal?
