How to Trust Yourself Again | ep164
We all know what it is that we truly want. We just don’t trust ourselves.
I’ve worked with people in so many different stages of life. But one thing they each had in common was that they were making decisions based on what they thought they should be doing instead of what they really wanted.
They felt stuck working towards a future they weren’t even sure they wanted and it was all because they had forgotten (or never learned) how to trust themselves.
Most of us were raised to not trust ourselves, to not trust that inner knowing and wisdom we each possess within us. When we regain our sense of trust in ourselves, then anything is possible. That is when we start to create a life rooted in what we truly desire.
Today, we’re going to look at what holds you back from trusting yourself and then explore 3 powerful exercises to help regain your sense of self trust.
But, before we dive in, I have a quick announcement!
One of my deepest beliefs is that YOU are your own healer and leader and when it comes to your growth and healing, YOU are the expert of your life.
The point of working with a coach is for you to fully understand and own this because you know best when it comes to you.
This is why I created my membership, The Alchemy Collective.
I was tired of being in healing spaces that focused more on where you’re lacking versus how you’re already whole.
In this monthly membership, you get:
5 group coaching calls a month
a monthly private podcast
monthly journal prompts
access to a library of somatic practices (like guided meditations)
you also get to work with me and some of my favorite teachers and healers in the wellness world!
If you’ve ever wanted to work with me, if you’re looking for support, guidance, inspiration on your healing and growth journey, then I really hope you’ll check out The Alchemy Collective.
Doors close September 29th and this is the LAST TIME we’ll be opening the doors.

Let’s get into today’s topic.
Trusting yourself means going against all you’ve been taught to do.
It goes against what society thinks you should do. What your family thinks you should do. What a former version of yourself once thought you should do.
Because of this, when it comes to trusting ourselves, we struggle because that inner voice is saying to make a change or to do the thing that completely goes against what you “should” be doing.
That inner voice sometimes tells you to burn it all down, to step into the unknown, and to get super, super uncomfortable.
Trusting yourself will often look like letting people down, starting all over, stepping into the unknown, going against norms.
We have also mistaken trusting ourselves with getting it “right.” We see trust through a binary of choosing the right or wrong thing and that’s not self trust.
Trusting yourself is about choosing what feels best, what feels right for you in that moment and then trusting that you can figure it out on the other end no matter what happens.
Rachel Cargle says…
I trust myself regardless of what happens.
If I jump off this cliff and I fail, I trust that I have the intellect and resilience it takes to move on.
And I also trust that if I do have footing, I will take off running.
Risks aren’t as risky when I know that what I am betting on is me.
I am betting on my ability to do really well or the ability to recover if I don’t do well.
That is what trust is all about. It’s not about trusting yourself to make the right decision. It’s not about trusting yourslef to not make a mistake. It’s about trusting yourself to figure it out on the other side.
