What Coaching Truly Means to Me | ep207

Today’s post is a love letter to coaching—a modality that completely transformed my life. This isn’t just about what coaching means to me as a coach but also how it first impacted me as a client when I was new to this work.

Coaching came to me at a time when I needed it most, and it has continued to play a crucial role in shaping who I am today.

I found coaching during a confusing and painful season of my life. Outwardly, everything looked great—I was living in New York, pursuing my dream as a professional singer, checking off every box I thought I needed to feel fulfilled. But I was miserable. I had done everything I thought I was supposed to do, yet I felt unfulfilled and unsure of what more I could do to find my happiness. Therapy was helpful, but I wanted something more—a way to move forward, not just process the past.

Enter coaching.

I’ll admit, at first, I was skeptical.

My understanding of coaching at the time was full of misconceptions—I thought it was all fluff, filled with toxic positivity and shallow mantras. But I was at such a low point, I was open to anything that might help me. And help me it did.

Coaching gave me something I had been desperately craving: momentum. It helped me move forward when I felt stuck. More importantly, it challenged me to question my long-held beliefs and the myths I had been telling myself for years—beliefs about what I deserved, what was possible for me, and what my future could look like.

Through coaching, I started to understand that so much of what I believed about myself wasn’t actually true. I thought my life wasn’t going the way I wanted because I wasn’t good enough or because I wasn’t doing enough. But the real issue was that I was operating from old, unkind stories—stories about my worth, my abilities, and what I was capable of.

Coaching helped me rewrite my stories

It helped me see my life with new eyes and start making decisions from a place of love and abundance instead of fear and lack.

And while my initial goal was to fix my love life, coaching ended up impacting so much more than that. It rippled into my professional life, my friendships, and my overall sense of self. I started to see the same limiting beliefs I had in relationships showing up in my career, and once I started addressing those, everything began to shift.

It’s not just a tool for the client—it’s a transformative experience for the coach, too.

When I decided to become a coach myself, I knew I wanted to create a space where people could experience deep transformation without the harm that sometimes exists in the wellness industry. I wanted to offer something heart-centered, grounded in love, and backed by real tools that create lasting change.

That’s why I’m so proud of the Wholehearted Coaching Certification. This program is my love letter to coaching, designed to create coaches who are not only skilled in their craft but who also understand the deep responsibility that comes with guiding someone through their transformation.

Coaching has given me so much—it allowed me to step into a life of freedom, agency, and purpose. It’s a career that grows with me, evolves with me, and reflects who I am at every stage of my life. And now, as a coach, I get to witness that same transformation in others. I get to be part of their journey, and it’s one of the greatest privileges of my life.

If you’ve ever considered becoming a coach, or if you’re curious about how coaching could change your life, I invite you to explore the Wholehearted Coaching Certification. Let’s see what’s possible when you step into your fullest potential.

life coaching certification shirin eskanani

Hi, love! I’m Shirin.

Coach, speaker, writer, and life alchemist.

I teach you how to listen to your intuition again, tune out all the BS, and let your heart lead the way.

Because once you strengthen your inner GPS, decisions become easier, boundaries become clearer, and belly laughs become a daily thing.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME:

  • I’m a certified life coach (accredited through the International Coach Federation)

  • My husband and I met on Instagram and we live in Brooklyn, NY with our plant babies

  • I have a masters degree in Music and was a professional opera singer for twelve years.  I worked all over the world singing on stage at Carnegie Hall and the Metropolitan Opera (more on that later…).

  • I believe in the woo just as much as I do the work (internal and external).  No amount of crystals and affirmations will make up for a lack of a healthy mindset and aligned action.

  • I love all the Real Housewives franchises.  Don’t make me choose one… seriously, don’t.
